Prerequisites

Before installing Senso MCP, make sure your environment meets the requirements below. They ensure that the MCP server and its secure connection to your AI assistant work properly.

Joomla Versions

Senso MCP is designed for Joomla 5.x and Joomla 6.x, with no compatibility plugin required. Earlier versions (Joomla 3 and 4) are not supported.

PHP & Extensions

PHP 8.2 or later is required. Versions 8.3 and 8.4 are recommended, and Senso MCP is compatible with PHP 8.5.

The following PHP extensions must be enabled: cURL, JSON, OpenSSL and mbstring. They are available on virtually all modern Joomla hosting platforms.

Web Server & HTTPS

The site must be served over HTTPS with a valid certificate: the OAuth 2.1 authentication protocol used to connect your assistant requires it.

URL rewriting (SEF URLs) must be enabled. Senso MCP works equally well with nginx and Apache. Depending on your configuration, a server rule for OAuth discovery documents (.well-known) may be required — see the Advanced Administration section.
