YOOtheme Pro

The YOOtheme Pro add-on controls the YOOtheme 5 builder: pages, templates, styles, library and backups. It requires YOOtheme Pro 5 to be installed and active; otherwise, its tools remain hidden.

Read tools require no special permissions. Each write tool follows the permissions of the relevant Joomla component — pages and their field bindings use com_content, while templates, settings and snapshots use com_templates — so a standard Administrator can manage YOOtheme without being a Super User. Every write is preceded by a snapshot, and destructive actions require confirmation.

Library & saved items

Two separate libraries are available. The YOOtheme library contains layouts and elements supplied by YOOtheme, which can be filtered by topic, type or originating site: the assistant can browse it, inspect a layout and import it into a page or template before adapting it to your content. Your personal library (“My Layouts”) contains the elements, sections and layouts you have saved: the assistant can add anything it has just built and reinsert any saved element into a page or template.

What you need to know

Recreating an existing page. If the page is on your site, the assistant reads its layout (sections, grids, elements and settings) and recreates or clones it in a new page or template. If the page is external, the assistant retrieves it from the web, analyses its structure and text, then rebuilds an equivalent page using the builder’s standard elements: sections, columns, headings, text, images, buttons and cards. The text is retained; images must be uploaded to the media library. This is not a pixel-perfect import but a reconstruction: the result is a clean page that can be edited later in the Customizer, rather than a fixed block of HTML.

Adopting a site’s style. A YOOtheme style is a set of design tokens (LESS variables: colours, typography, spacing and buttons), together with header, navbar and footer settings. The assistant can analyse a reference site and apply its colour palette, fonts and header style to your active style through the less and custom_less sections of the settings, with an automatic snapshot so you can roll back. It does not save the result as a new named entry in YOOtheme’s Styles panel: that step takes two clicks in the Customizer.

Security. Every write is preceded by a snapshot, and destructive actions require confirmation. The required permissions follow the Joomla ACL of the relevant component — com_content for pages and their bindings, and com_templates for templates, settings and snapshots — meaning that an Administrator is sufficient; no Super User account is required (see Security & permissions).
